U-SAIL of Central Florida is located at 531 N. Palmetto Ave., Sanford Florida. Incorporated in October 2008, U-SAIL offers structured sailing lessons to the Central Florida area and Florida vacationing patrons. Services provided include basic sailing lessons on keelboats, ASA certifications, plus basic coastal cruising courses and coastal navigation. Captain DJ and staff are committed to make your sailing experience enjoyable and something you’ll always remember.

U-SAIL is adjacent to Downtown Sanford Marina, a full service Clean Marina facility. Located on beautiful Lake Monroe, the marina was built by the City of Sanford in 1967. The marina has 213 wet slips and 157 dry storage racks to accommodate its visitors year-round. The marina services include security gates, Wireless internet, showers/laundry, fuel and a well marked approach via water and land.

Facilities and amenities at U-SAIL of Central Florida include: well maintained floating docks; onsite security cameras; water and electricity; easy access to the general public with ample parking. The handicap accessible office and classroom are air-conditioned with an eye pleasing nautical décor along with a view of the boat ramp, marina basin and lake.

Located on Lake Monroe, once home to the nation’s largest inland regatta, the Sailfest that comprised of 750 sailing vessels on five race courses. It is a 9,406-acre fresh water lake that is part of the St. Johns River, located approximately 20 miles north of Orlando with Sanford on its southern shore. The lake’s average depth is about 6-7 feet and the winds on the lake are generally light to moderate.

The local sailing community is called the Lake Monroe Sailing Association Inc. (LMSA), and has been active since 1985. LMSA provides new sailors many opportunities to sail, crew, socialize and participate in local regatta sailing events held though out the year.
